Kellner-Steckfiguren … The Brand of the mouse

Kellner Steckfiguren was founded in 1914 by my grandfather and is one of the oldest toy manufacturers in Europe.

Our wooden toy classics with cult status, the “Kellner-Steckfiguren”, have been around the world for more than 80 years and are still incomparably fresh, cheeky, stimulating and educationally valuable.

The entire rangefrom our wooden toy collectionis sustainable, absolutely free of harmful substances. If someone kisses us, it is not a bad thing. All individual parts are carefully held in our hands, turned, drilled, sanded, painted and packed. The production is completely located in Thuringia and Saxony in the south of Germany.

For 30 years, we also have been developing and building large play sculptures to climb and marvel at.

Day after day we are on a unique path with rubber soles, plastic buckets, turbochargers, calculators, spruce needles and pebbles.

Interview with Hans-Georg Kellner, designer & owner of Kellner Steckfiguren

Why do you create toys and playgrounds for children?
I find joy in games and in life, while sawing, while pouring concrete, drinking wine, sawing logs with chain saws and making a living from it all.

What is special about your Kellner Connecting Figures?
They are a wild and cheerful mixture of materials, forms and possibilities. We don’t have any age limits. Our objects constantly oscillate between being one of a kind and being part of a series, between being connecting figures and art objects. They shape living spaces and accompany generations. It brings me great joy that we can do all this at once.

When and where was the toy manufacturer Kellner Connecting Figures founded?
1914 in Berlin.

What do you do when you are not working?
Sleep.
