Tell us a little bit about your background. How did you get into designing products for children?
A child is pure. I enjoy a design with a pure vision just like a child. The aim of my design is to directly reach a child’s heart without words of explanation or concept. However, I pay attention to safety.
What was the inspiration behind the design of the peacock?
The world is becoming complicated and instable. And although this world bares a certain influence on the child, I hope that the child can enjoy drawing a future full of hope. Therefore, I have designed a peacock. A peacock dresses up in order to be loved. I hope that a child’s drawings will depict a future overflowing with love.
What can you tell us about the production-process of your product? Where has it been made? How was it made?
The peacock is almost entirely hand-made, except for one single part. I usually design and make my works by myself because I am designer and craftsman.
How much value do you place in the aesthetic of your design?
As ideally, ultimate aesthetics are what resonates directly into the heart without words.
What does the term “suitable design for children” mean to you?
Design for children purely. It is not meant for winning prizes in competitions and should not focus on what the child’s parent’s desire. It’s about what speaks to a child’s imaginative appeal.
