From early childhood to adulthood, we love to play with puzzles and modular toys. These toys teach and prepare kids early in life for some very important life skills. In case of Animaze, a puzzle was redesigned to become a kids-friendly furniture system.

TALKY – play therapy toys by Katalin Pataki

It was a thoughtful design step that my play therapy toy ”Talky” has simple formal appearance. It is more helpfull for the therapy, because children can see different meanings in the forms. And what the child imagines in the forms can be a telltale sign for the therapist.

I wanted to make a series of playful objects for children that could also be enjoyed and appreciated by adults and where the parts could be interchangeable.

YaWood – rocking horse & play furniture by Argo4 Studio

The goal was to create an object that could be used individually, but that would be more funny when shared. It is made by a curved wood profile that follows the lines of the body. The design concept is inspired by the mother’s hand as a symbol of protection and kindness.

Wheelbarrow Table – children’s play table by Sarit Shani Hay

The idea behind this kid’s play table was to create a fun playful mobile table that it is both functional and playful. A child can play with it, draw and use its storage for toys

Let Them Be Bugs – a modular toy by Malou van Dijck and Renske Rothuizen

Let Them Be Bugs is a set inspired by insects with different parts and pieces that spark the imagination of kids. They can invent their own new species of insects! The set consists of abstracted shapes of three different insects: a bee, beetle and grasshopper.

Kids love it because of the playful colors and the form. They can build there own piece depending on their needs; as an table or chair. Parents love it because of the firmness and the quality of the laminate surface.
