Woodjoy is a Romanian brand that has been creating and manufacturing furniture for children since 2010. It all began in 2003, when committed people came together to bring about positive change in society with courage and creativity. Today, Woodjoy produces children’s furniture inspired by Maria Montessori, provides employment opportunities for disadvantaged people and supports children with disabilities.
Our furniture for children and families combines simplicity, mind and heart. Each piece of Woodjoy furniture is designed to encourage children’s ability to concentrate and learn, allowing them to use the same things as adults.
All our children’s and family furniture are multifunctional and long lasting. They are suitable for children, but can also be used by teenagers and adults.
At Woodjoy, we value sustainability and environmental friendliness: we use FSC-certified beech wood and birch plywood, child-safe and environmentally friendly water-based paints. And with every purchase, we plant a tree.

Why do you create and manufacture children’s furniture?
As a managing director of a social enterprise, I am constantly looking for ways to combine social responsibility with sustainable, long-term projects – so it seemed a good and natural choice for me to start producing children’s furniture and toys in 2010.
What is special about your Montessori furniture collection?
When developing children’s furniture, we always focus first and foremost on function; however, the children’s furniture should also be aesthetically pleasing and fit into every room in the family so that it can find its place anywhere.
In line with Montessori principles, we use natural materials. Our furniture helps children to be independent and design their own space. They invite children to engage with the furniture while participating in family activities.
All our Woodjoy products buck the throwaway trend: our furniture grows with the children and adapts to their needs for a lifetime.
When and where was Woodjoy founded?
Established in 2003 in Targu-Mures, Romania, Timural Group srl is an ordinary company, working with and for extraordinary people. Its main goal is to create decent job places for disadvantaged groups of people and to support financially the mother NGO, which is offering a wide range of services for disabled children. Since 2010, we create under the brand name “WoodJoy” Montessori based multifunctional children’s furniture and educational toys.
Where do you produce your children’s furniture and toys?
We are designing and producing all our children’s furniture and wooden toys in our own workshop in Romania.
What do you do when you ARE NOT working?
This work is not an 8-hour job…in the small time I have completely free, I like to listen music, going to theatre and walking in the nature.
