BOWLES – The wooden bowling game by Julie Chrpová

My inspiration was in nature – many forest animals. I could not decide which one I should choose. The idea was to create more animals than just one. The prototype is the set of five animal pins, three tree pins and a bowling ball.

Some time ago, under the design collective outofstock we started a collaboration with the french brand Ekobo, that produces objects using bamboo as the main material. It was a very interesting project that led to a series of sand/beach tools and toys for children, made in bamboo composite.

Designing toys that ‘are not finished’, is perhaps the biggest challenge. That way there is enough room to fill in things yourself. For other objects that is probably important as well. It is good to learn children but it is not good to tame them! so there must be space for the imagination.
