Respectful & sustainable design for kids presents the exhibition play it green! on September 20 – 21 2018 at Design Post Cologne. Play it green! – initiated by afilii – platform for design & architecture for kids – introduces 28 international exhibitors from 8 countries with eco friendly toys, accessories, modern kids furniture and selected prototypes by students & young designers. The extensive framework program will inspire and create awareness for changes of perspective.

Coming from the LEGO country, Denmark, it is obvious that the small ingenious brick has been a big inspiration, but the idea started when we learned how big of a problem physical inactivity among kids has become. No wonder, when you look at how much time kids spend with tablets.

Modulino – play furniture by Alessandra Fagnani

Modulino 2.0 is a kind of toy itself, not only a chair. It is light, natural, simple, durable and fun. The height of the seat, and the height of the table created through its combination are ergonomically intended for kids between 3 and 6 years old.

Superbambi – chair for children & play furniture by Elda Bellone, Scoopdesign

I am very fascinated by the things that have multiple readings. I like to work in an open way and “play” with form and function, especially in an object I like to have more shapes and more features together, I think it is really fun. For superbambi the multifunction and multiform concept was the basis of the idea; a sort of a smart piece.

Some time ago, under the design collective outofstock we started a collaboration with the french brand Ekobo, that produces objects using bamboo as the main material. It was a very interesting project that led to a series of sand/beach tools and toys for children, made in bamboo composite.

Our environment has an energy just like we do. Design can make you feel calm and peaceful, inspired and excited, overwhelmed and anxious. That of course extends down to children, too!
