Ssstolik – play furniture by Marta and Dawid Grynasz

During one of our studio visits, we had the opportunity to watch a craftsman weave a large carpet. We also took into account games from our own childhood. These observations allowed us to create a piece of furniture that naturally encourages kids to personalize their space and practice their motor skills while having fun.

I was alone with my child and I wanted to picture the story of the contact between mother and child while eating. So all the dimensions and the form is based on the movements between the mother and the child. It’s a very intimate piece, there is only space for the two of them.

I’ve come across so many stories told by adults about their childhood furniture and the play in the in-between spaces around them. What strikes me is that it often comes down to what the child experienced as emotional about the furniture.

Lumme – carpet for children by Maija Puoskari

Lumme carpet is inspired by 60’s feeling and the shape of water lily’s leaves. There is a link in the centre of the carpet so it can be easily hung on the wall by hook. Materials are ecological wool felt and leather.

MAVALA’ – modern kids furniture by Anna Licata

My sons Enrico and Bianca inspired me. MAVALA’ was born from the desire to offer them a solid starting point for playing and learning having fun, feeling free to interpret it as they desired.
